SUMMARY:Exploring the Inner Critic
DESCRIPTION:Parts on Paper\nA Three- Part Online Journalling Group10–24 September 2026 \nThree online gatherings with guided journalling between sessions. \n\nAn Invitation\nMost of us know the voice of the Inner Critic. \nIt tells us to work harder\, get it right\, stay in control\, fit in\, or never make mistakes. \nOver time these voices can become so familiar that we mistake them for the truth. We don’t just hear them — we become them. \nThis three-week journey is an invitation to slow that process down. \nThrough guided journalling\, conversation and curiosity\, we’ll begin to notice the different voices that make up our own Inner Critic and explore what lies underneath them. \nRather than trying to silence these voices or get rid of them\, we’ll become curious about them. \nBecause every critic has a job. \nEvery critic is trying to protect you. \nAnd every critic has a story. \nInspired by Freedom from Your Inner Critic by Jay Earley and Bonnie Weiss\, we’ll explore what I like to call the Council of Critics — an inner committee of protective parts\, each convinced its particular strategy is the best way to keep us safe. \n\nMeet Your Council\nTogether we’ll get to know seven familiar critics: \n\nThe Perfectionist\nThe Driver (Taskmaster)\nThe Inner Controller\nThe Underminer\nThe Destroyer\nThe Guilt Tripper\nThe Chameleon\n\nAs the weeks unfold\, you’ll begin recognising which critics are most active in your own life\, what they are trying to protect\, and how they came to take on these roles. \n\nWhy Journalling?\nWriting creates space. \nInstead of becoming caught inside the voice of the critic\, we can begin to notice it. \nWe can listen to what it says without immediately believing it. \nBetween our online gatherings you’ll receive guided journalling prompts to help you explore your own Council of Critics. \nThis isn’t homework. \nIt’s an experiment. \nAn opportunity to notice which critic is present\, what it is trying to protect\, and what happens when we respond with curiosity rather than judgement. \n\nWhat to Expect\nThe journey includes: \n🌿 Three live online gatherings — 75 minutes each \n🌿 Guided journalling between sessions \n🌿 A private WhatsApp group for the duration of the journey \n🌿 Reflections inspired by Internal Family Systems (IFS) \n🌿 A simple\, compassionate approach to understanding your inner world \nNo previous journalling experience is needed. \nOnly a willingness to become curious. \n\nGroup Schedule\n🌿 Opening Circle\nThursday 10 September 2026 \nMeeting the Council of Critics \n🌿 Middle Circle\nThursday 17 September 2026 \nListening to What the Critics Protect \n🌿 Closing Circle\nThursday 24 September 2026 \nLiving with Greater Awareness and Choice \n\nSession Time\nSouth Africa (SAST)6:00–7:15 PM \nCentral Europe (CEST)6:00–7:15 PM \nUS Pacific (PDT)9:00–10:15 AM \n\nContribution\nInternational\nSuggested contribution US$50–100 \nSouth Africa\nSuggested contribution R700–R1\,000 \nIf the suggested contribution isn’t possible\, please get in touch and we’ll make a plan. \n\nIs This Group for You?\nThis group is for anyone who recognises the harsh inner voice that criticises\, pushes\, compares\, controls\, or never quite lets them rest. \nYou don’t need to be “good” at journalling. \nYou don’t need to fix yourself. \nYou simply need a willingness to become curious about the voices inside and what they have been trying to protect. \nThis is what a previous participant said about her experience: \n\n“What a nourishing experience to be with you all. Thanks Ryan and Leeane for such a warm and encouraging space. \nThe suggestion of our critics as being sacred was especially heart-opening. It’s been very hard for me to relate to these parts and welcome them until now — even acknowledging them felt hard. It feels like a big shift.” \n— Naomi \n\nReady to Meet Your Council of Critics?\nIf this journey speaks to you\, I’d love to have you join us. \nComplete the registration form below to reserve your place. You’ll find contribution options\, payment details\, and everything you need to get started there. \nBefore our first gathering\, I’ll send you your Inner Critic Profile along with an invitation to our temporary WhatsApp group\, which we’ll use to share journalling prompts and stay connected for the duration of the journey. \n→ Register Here

SUMMARY:Intensive Writing - Where the Story Lives
DESCRIPTION:Parts on Paper\nExpressive Writing Intensive \nA Three-Part Guided Journalling Journey14–28 October 2026 \nFour 20-minute writing sessions\, with shorter reflections and supportive group connection throughout the two weeks. \nAn Invitation\nThis October\, we’re taking the writing practice a little deeper. \nThis is an intensive for those who have already taken part in the Exploring the Inner Critic group. \nOver two weeks\, we’ll each choose one or two difficult experiences\, periods or chapters of our lives that we would like to spend some time with. \nWe’ll use expressive writing to explore what happened\, what we felt\, what we made it mean\, and the connections that may have been difficult to see at the time. \nThe intention isn’t to write a perfect story. \nIt’s to give an experience some space. \nTo slow it down. \nTo listen to what is still there. \nAnd to see what happens when we begin putting it into words. \n\nWhy Expressive Writing?\nThere is something surprisingly powerful about writing about our own experience. \nResearch beginning with the work of psychologist James Pennebaker has explored what happens when people spend short periods of time writing about difficult or emotionally significant experiences. \nAcross decades of research\, researchers have explored expressive writing in relation to psychological wellbeing\, stressful life events\, physical health and even aspects of immune functioning. \nThe findings are mixed\, and there is no simple formula for what makes writing helpful. \nWhat interests me is the possibility that putting experience into words can help us slow something down enough to see it differently. \nWe may begin with what happened. \nThen we notice what we felt. \nThen perhaps we notice something we hadn’t connected before. \nThe writing becomes a way of listening. \n\nThe Practice\nThe structure is deliberately simple. \nAcross the two weeks there will be four 20-minute writing sessions. \nBetween these sessions there will be shorter reflective invitations. These don’t require a set amount of time. They are simply ways of staying connected to what is emerging. \nYou might be invited to notice something in your body\, revisit a moment from the writing\, pay attention to a particular emotion\, or become curious about one of the parts that appears along the way. \nThere will also be a supportive group structure throughout the two weeks. \nA place to share what we are noticing. \nA place to listen. \nA place to be witnessed without needing to fix or solve each other’s experiences. \n\nWhat Are We Writing About?\nYou’ll choose one or two difficult experiences or chapters of your life that you feel ready to spend some time with. \nThis might be: \n\nA relationship\nA period of change or loss\nAn experience of shame or embarrassment\nA time when you felt small\, rejected or alone\nSomething you regret\nA difficult family experience\nA chapter of your life you still find yourself thinking about\nAn experience that you have never quite made sense of\n\nYou don’t need to choose the biggest or most traumatic experience of your life. \nIn fact\, part of the practice is learning to notice what you are ready to approach. \nAnd this is where the work we did with the Inner Critic becomes relevant. \nAs we begin writing\, we may discover that some parts of us are very happy to go there. \nOthers may not be. \nWe will make room for those parts too. \n\nWhat to Expect\nThe journey includes: \n🌿 Four guided 20-minute expressive-writing sessions \n🌿 Short reflective invitations between writing sessions \n🌿 Supportive online group connection \n🌿 A private WhatsApp group for the duration of the journey \n🌿 Guidance inspired by expressive-writing research and Internal Family Systems \n🌿 A simple structure for exploring difficult experiences through writing \nThe actual writing commitment is just 20 minutes at a time. \nThe intention is to create enough structure to go somewhere\, without making the practice another thing to achieve. \n\nJourney Schedule\n🌿 Opening\nWednesday 14 October 2026 \nChoosing our experience and preparing for the writing practice \n🌿 Writing\nFour 20-minute writing sessions across the two weeks \nWith shorter reflective invitations between sessions. \n🌿 Closing\nWednesday 28 October 2026 \nMaking space for what has emerged \n\nA Note About Readiness\nExpressive writing can bring us into contact with experiences and emotions that we may have kept at a distance. \nWe don’t need to force ourselves into material we aren’t ready to approach. \nThe intention is not to push through our protectors. \nIt is to become curious about them. \nSometimes the most useful thing we can discover is that a part of us isn’t ready to go somewhere yet. \nThat is information too. \n\nWho Is This For?\nThis intensive is specifically for people who have already taken part in the Exploring the Inner Critic group. \nThe September group gives us a foundation for recognising our protective parts and becoming curious about the voices inside. \nOctober builds on that foundation by turning the writing towards our own life experiences. \nYou don’t need to have a particular outcome in mind. \nOnly a willingness to explore. \n\nContribution\nI’d keep the contribution the same as September\, unless you want October positioned as a slightly higher-value intensive. \nInternationalSuggested contribution US$50–100 \nSouth AfricaSuggested contribution R700–R1\,000 \nIf the suggested contribution isn’t possible\, please get in touch and we’ll make a plan. \nReady to Go a Little Deeper?\nIf you’ve taken part in the Inner Critic group and feel ready to explore your own experience through expressive writing\, I’d love to have you join us. \nComplete the registration form below to reserve your place. You’ll find contribution options\, payment details\, and everything you need to get started there. \nBefore we begin\, I’ll send you everything you need to prepare for the writing practice\, along with an invitation to our temporary WhatsApp group. \n→ Register Here
