SUMMARY:Parts on Paper journaling challenge
DESCRIPTION:Foundations: A Check-In on Belonging\nA 3-week online IFS journaling journey | Weekly constellations | July 2025 \nYou think of foundations as fixed. But everything we build on—our roles\, identities\, relationships—is in motion. This is an invitation to pause\, listen\, and reconnect to what truly holds you. \n\nWhat is this?\nA 3-week guided journaling and group process to reflect on your sense of belonging and foundation—in yourself\, your relationships\, your lineage\, and the wider world. \nWhether you’re feeling uprooted\, in transition\, or simply seeking clarity\, this space is for checking in with what you truly rely on—and where you might want to allow more (or less) belonging. \n\nHow it works\n\n🌀 Three live Zoom sessions (1 per week)\n✍️ Journaling prompts every 3–4 days (using IFS-inspired inner listening)\n🌐 Weekly online group constellations to explore core themes\n\n\nIFS = Internal Family Systems\, a gentle approach to exploring your inner worldConstellations = experiential processes that help uncover hidden patterns in family\, relationships\, or culture \n\n\nWhat we’ll explore\nYou’ll reflect on five core areas of belonging: \n\nSelf – How do you relate inwardly? Are there parts of you left out?\nClose Relationships – How do you experience connection (or disconnection) one-to-one?\nFamily & Community – What is inherited\, what is chosen\, and how do you stand with both?\nAncestry & Culture – What legacies support or shake your sense of place?\nThe World & Spirit – How do you feel in relation to the larger whole?\n\nThis is a space to slow down and listen to the deeper movements in your life. Not to fix—but to become more aware of the stories and parts that shape your sense of rootedness. \n\nWhy Foundations? Why Now?\nYou build on foundations. But when life changes—relationships end\, roles shift\, systems collapse—those foundations can tremble. That shaking can bring anxiety or confusion. This process helps you trace the roots of those tremors. \nSometimes it’s enough just to see what’s there.Sometimes something deeper wants to speak.Sometimes\, we can do something to help. \nWe’ll ask: \n\nHow are my foundations\, really? What beliefs\, relationships\, or roles have I been standing on? Are they still true?\nWhere do I feel belonging—and where might I allow more?Where am I seen\, safe\, and part of something real? Where am I holding back?\nWhat have I outgrown? What roles or identities no longer fit? What can I release to make space for what’s next?\n\n\nA Note from Ryan\nI created this offering after a period of deep personal transition. Years ago\, I lost a long-standing spiritual community I had helped build. A shift in leadership and energy left me with a difficult choice—stay and compromise something vital\, or leave and feel untethered. \nI chose to leave. \nThat rupture shook my foundations—but it also showed me this: belonging isn’t static. We move in and out of it. We lose it. We find it again. This course is about meeting those shifts with more awareness and compassion. \n\nWho is this for?\nAnyone curious about: \n\nInner parts and emotional patterns\nJournaling as a path of self-reflection\nGroup process and deeper inner work\nCultivating clarity and connection during times of change\n\nNo prior experience in IFS or constellations needed—just a willingness to reflect. \n\n📅 Dates & Times\nStart Date: Saturday\, 12th July 2025Live calls: Saturdays\, 10 AM PST  \n\n💬 Booking\nCost: $50 or pay what you can (by donation). \nSpots are limited to keep the group small and intimate. To join\, contact Ryan:📧 ryanklette@gmail.com📱 WhatsApp: +27 82 552 0619 \nParticipant experience: \n…my recent experience of participating in Ryan’s IFS short journaling group was a great place for me to revisit and recommit to my writing practice. As someone who usually shies away from this type of self reflection\, I found this an incredibly supportive experience within a small group ably guided and prompted by Ryan’s observations both in our group zooms and written material to read on Substack. An additional bonus for me was having some Enneagram chat within our sharing – this really helped me pull together my enneagram learnings from decades back and use it to help my current IFS experience. \nHuge appreciation to Ryan and my work group ✨ \nRosie G

SUMMARY:Parts on Paper: A Check-In on Belonging
DESCRIPTION:Foundations: A Check-In on BelongingA 3-week online IFS journaling journey | September 2025\n\n\n\nYou think of foundations as fixed. But everything we build on—our roles\, identities\, relationships—is in motion. This is an invitation to pause\, listen\, and reconnect with this theme of belonging and your relationship with your sense of rootedness.\n\n\n \n\nWhat Participants shared from the July course:“I’ve been searching to belong most of my life\, but realised I was unconsciously resisting it. Through Ryan’s process\, I discovered why – and suddenly could write freely about it. This has been a significant step on my belonging journey.”\n“I realised that more often than not people accept me and there are many places I belong. Any feelings of rejection\, scorn and hurt are rooted in my sense of shame. People accept me and even like and love me just as I am.”\n“I found the Parts on Pages – Belonging & Roots group transformational. These are check-ins and sharing sessions—you share what you feel comfortable to share. These sessions give the sense of supportive container\, that we’re all in it together. SUMMARY:✍️ Thresholds - A 3-week online IFS journaling journey
DESCRIPTION:Thresholds — A 3-week online IFS journaling journey | October 2025 \nWe all know that pull: the part of us that says “I don’t want to go” and the part that longs to step forward. Thresholds live in that tension — between endings and beginnings\, between holding back and stepping into what’s next. \nThis program is about levelling up and stepping forward in your life — whether in love\, lifestyle\, career\, or physical\, mental\, and spiritual health. \nThis program was created with my wife\, Leeane\, and together we’ll hold the space as a team. For more than a decade\, our work has been about gathering people — weaving safe spaces where we become medicine for one another. Rooted in the spirit of Ubuntu\, we believe healing happens in connection — we go further together. \nRyan is Level 2 IFS-trained and has worked with the model for four years\, integrating it with journaling and group process. \n\n\n✨ At a Glance\n\nProgram: Thresholds — A 3-week IFS Journaling Journey\nDates: October 19 – November 10\, 2025\nLive Calls: Saturdays\, 6:00 PM South Africa / 9:00 AM Pacific Time\nFormat: Online via Zoom (3 live sessions + journaling prompts)\nCost: $50 (sliding scale $30–$70)\nGroup Size: Limited to 8 participants\nRegistration: Click here to register\nContact: 📧 ryanklette@gmail.com |\n📱 WhatsApp\n\n\n\nWhat participants shared from the last course (Belonging & Roots):\n\n\n“I’ve been searching to belong most of my life\, but realised I was unconsciously resisting it. Through Ryan’s process\, I discovered why – and suddenly could write freely about it. This has been a significant step on my belonging journey.” \n\n\n“I realised that more often than not people accept me and there are many places I belong. Any feelings of rejection\, scorn and hurt are rooted in my sense of shame. People accept me and even like and love me just as I am.” \n\n\n“I found the Parts on Paper – Belonging & Roots group transformational. Ryan’s guidance along with insights from the other members and the daily writing allowed some previously very rigid parts in me to shift which in turn directly resulted in an increased sense of acceptance and immediate improvement in my close relationships.” 🙏 — Nels \n“It was a safe place to connect with Ryan and the other members. I really enjoyed the fact that not everyone was on the same page (pun intended) but still everything weaved in organically so that each person could explore\, listen\, respect\, honour\, and grow — individually and together.I strongly recommend anyone to experience this amazing space with Ryan.” — Sajeda \n\n\n\nWhat is this?\nA 3-week guided journaling and group process to explore thresholds — in yourself\, your relationships\, your work\, your lineage\, and the wider world. \nWhether you’re standing at a small everyday threshold or a major life transition\, this space is for checking in with what holds you back\, what calls you forward\, and how you want to cross with more awareness. \n\nWho is this for?\n\nAnyone curious about inner parts and emotional patterns\nJournaling as a path of self-reflection\nGroup process and deeper inner work\nCultivating clarity and connection during times of change\n\nNo prior experience in IFS or constellations needed — just a willingness to reflect. \n\nHow it works\nThree live Zoom sessions (1 per week). These are check-ins and sharing circles — you share what you feel comfortable with. The group creates a supportive container\, reminding us we are not alone. Being witnessed makes it possible to shift and grow in the ways we need. Sometimes we’ll explore themes through constellation-inspired exercises. \nJournaling prompts every 3–4 days (IFS-inspired inner listening) + encouragement to keep a daily practice of morning pages. \nIFS = Internal Family Systems: a gentle way of exploring your inner world by listening to different “parts” of yourself. \nCan’t make the weekly group calls? Don’t worry — I’ll be recording short video summaries each week\, and you’re welcome to check in with me independently. You’ll still receive the journaling prompts and be able to move through the process at your own pace. \n\nWe’ll explore\nWeek 1: Holding Back — listening to what resists and what needs to be honoured. \nWeek 2: Pushing Forward — meeting the parts that strive or rush ahead. \nWeek 3: Breaking Through — integrating the wisdom gathered\, and stepping into what’s next with clarity and intention. \n\n📅 Dates & Times\nDates: October 19 – November 10\, 2025 \nLive calls: Sundays\, 6:00 PM South Africa / 9:00 AM Pacific Time \n\n💬 Booking\nCost: $50 (sliding scale $30–$70).\nGroup Size: Limited to 8 participants. \nRegistration: Click here to register \nTo join or ask questions\, contact Ryan:\n📧 ryanklette@gmail.com\n📱 +27 82 552 0619 \n\n🌿 About the Facilitators\nRyan and Leeane have been working together in the fields of psychology\, healing\, and group facilitation for over a decade. \nRyan (MA Psychology\, Wits) draws from Internal Family Systems (IFS)\, the Enneagram\, and Family Constellations to help people meet themselves with awareness and compassion. His work blends psychology\, journaling\, and group process to create spaces for genuine reflection and growth. \nLeeane brings over twenty years of experience in health and wellness—integrating counselling\, bodywork\, herbal medicine\, and Family Constellations. Her approach is intuitive and heart-centred\, rooted in the understanding that healing happens in community. A Sun Dancer and sweat lodge holder for over two decades\, Leeane carries a deep connection to ceremony and the Earth. The sweat lodge\, she says\, represents a womb space—a place to return\, listen\, and meet the parts of ourselves we’ve kept in the dark. \nTogether\, they create safe\, embodied spaces where people can be medicine for one another. Guided by the spirit of Ubuntu\, they believe we go further together.

SUMMARY:Sankofa Journey 2025
DESCRIPTION:🌿 Sankofa Journey 2025\nLooking back\, to move forward.\n🗓️ 10th – 22nd December\nOnline journaling journey with 3 connection circles on Zoom \n\n✨ Why look back to move forward?\nBecause what we don’t digest\, we carry. \nSankofa reminds us to go back and fetch what we forgot —\nthe wisdom\, the ache\, the gratitude — so we can step into the new year lighter and more whole. \nWhen we come together in a circle to write\, reflect\, and witness each other\, something alchemical happens.\nStories soften. Insights surface.\nThe past begins to loosen its hold\, and we can receive it as strength. \nThis is the magic of Sankofa — retrieving what was left behind\,\nso we can walk forward with more truth\, clarity\, and grace. \n\n🪶 The Practice\nOver 14 days\, you’ll be guided through a reflective writing process inspired by\nThe Artist’s Way (Julia Cameron).\nEach day you’ll write three pages — free\, unfiltered\, alive.\nFrom those pages\, you’ll distill a paragraph\, then a single sentence — your guiding thread for 2026. \nWe’ll meet for three live Zoom circles to share\, connect\, and deepen the process together:\n🕖 10th\, 17th & 22nd December \n9 am Pacific time/ 6 pm South African time ( 75 min sessions)\n(Approx. 75 minutes each) \nThis practice is a sacred pause — a way to reflect\, digest\, and retrieve the hidden wisdom of the year gone by.\nWhen we gather\, a quiet magic happens — we help each other to remember through our stories and experiences. \n“I wholeheartedly recommend Ryan’s journaling groups. I’ve participated twice\, and it’s an experience that is both enriching and deeply fulfilling.” Ioana  \n\n🌸 Contribution\nSuggested donation: $50\n(You’re welcome to contribute according to your means.) \n💳 PayPal: ryanklette@gmail.com\n🏦 Bank transfer: Ryan Klette — FNB 6201 288 0838 (cheque account) \nTo join\, simply message +27 82 552 0619 or email\nryanklette@gmail.com\, and you’ll be added to the group. \n\n🌍 Meaning of Sankofa\nSankofa is a Ghanaian word and Adinkra symbol of a bird flying forward while looking back.\nIt means “to go back and fetch it.” \nIt invites us to reclaim what was lost or forgotten — the experiences\, lessons\, and inner truths that allow us\nto step into the future with greater wholeness and self-awareness. \n\n🕊 Sankofa 2025\nReflection • Writing • Connection\nTogether we remember\, and carry the wisdom forward.

SUMMARY:Parts on Paper Journalling Circle: The Embodied Dreamer
DESCRIPTION:Dates: 21–28 January 2026Format: Two 60-minute online connection circles (opening and closing)\, plus daily prompts for 7 days \nAn Invitation\nStep into a week-long journey to meet the Dreamer in you. Over 7 days\, you’ll receive a daily prompt and one page to write\, draw\, or both — a gentle\, no-pressure space to explore your imagination\, curiosity\, and inner life. \nThe prompts invite you to meet the parts of yourself that are afraid to dream\, step into the future you imagine\, and notice your life with fresh eyes. You’ll reflect on what matters most\, what your soul longs for\, and what moves you closer to — or further from — living in that direction. \nIn any given moment\, it’s easy to get caught up in doing what feels urgent rather than what truly nourishes the Dreamer inside. This circle is about identifying the small practices\, habits\, or moments that help you move toward your dreams. For me\, ice bathing a few times a week\, journaling\, play\, swimming\, and other daily rituals keep the Dreamer alive. One of my bigger dreams this year is a vibrant vegetable garden\, and eating more from it. \nThis is about simple\, embodied dreaming — not grand-scale or unrealistic visions\, but what is achievable for the Dreamer in you: a stretch\, but not beyond your capacity. We’ll also explore the dreams that scare us\, the ones we long for deeply\, that we may feel too afraid to pursue. \nWe’ll open and close the week with 60-minute connection sessions\, holding space for reflection\, sharing\, and collective inspiration. \nCircle Times: 21 and 28 January @ 7–8 PM SA time / 9–10 AM Pacific \nContribution\nThis circle runs on a donation basis\, suggested $25–$50\, so that everyone can participate according to their means. \nIf this speaks to you\, you are warmly invited to join. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister here and we’ll add you to the circle!

SUMMARY:Befriending Your Inner Critic
DESCRIPTION:A Three-Part Online Journalling Journey\n22 July – 5 August 2026 \nThree 75-minute online circles with guided journalling prompts and reflections between sessions. \nAn Invitation\nMost of us know the voice of the Inner Critic. \nIt tells us to work harder\, get it right\, stay in control\, fit in\, or never make mistakes. \nOver time these voices become so familiar that we mistake them for the truth. \nBut what if they aren’t the truth? \nWhat becomes possible when those voices are no longer running the meeting? \nInspired by Freedom from Your Inner Critic by Jay Earley and Bonnie Weiss\, this journey explores what I like to call the Council of Critics—an inner committee of protective parts\, each convinced its strategy is the best way to keep us safe. \nTogether we’ll get to know seven familiar critics: \n• The Perfectionist• The Driver (Taskmaster)• The Inner Controller• The Underminer• The Destroyer• The Guilt Tripper• The Chameleon \nRather than trying to silence these voices\, we’ll become curious about them. \nBecause every critic has a job. \nEvery critic is trying to protect you. \nAnd every critic has a story. \n\nWhy Journalling?\nWriting creates space. \nInstead of becoming caught inside these voices\, we begin listening to them with curiosity. \nBetween our online circles you’ll receive gentle prompts that take just 5–10 minutes a day\, helping you notice your inner patterns and build a different relationship with them. \n\nTogether we’ll explore questions like…\n\nWhich critic has been running the meeting this week?\nWhat is it trying to protect?\nWhen did it first begin its job?\nWhat happens when you respond with curiosity instead of judgement?\n\nThe intention for the group is simple. It’s about becoming a little more compassionate towards ourselves\, softening the harsh voices inside\, and seeing what changes. I like to think of these journeys as experiments.  What happens when we stop believing everything our inner critic tells us? \n\nBy the End of the Journey\nYou’ll leave with: \n🌿 A map of your own Council of Critics \n🌿 A simple journalling practice to continue \n🌿 Greater awareness of the protective patterns behind self-criticism \n🌿 A more compassionate relationship with yourself \n\nSession Times\n🇿🇦 South Africa (SAST): 6:00–7:15 PM \n🇪🇺 Central Europe (CEST): 6:00–7:15 PM \n🇺🇸 US Pacific (PDT): 9:00–10:15 AM \nDates\n22 July \n29 July \n5 August \n\nContribution\nSuggested contribution is  US$50–100\, allowing everyone to participate according to their means. \nSuggested South African rate R 700 – R 1000. \nReady to meet your Council of Critics?\nComplete the registration form below\, and I’ll be in touch with everything you need before we begin. \nOnce I receive your registration\, I’ll send you payment details along with everything you’ll need before our first circle. \n→ Register Here

SUMMARY:Meet Your Council of Critics
DESCRIPTION:A Three-Week Online Journalling Group\n11–25 August 2026 \nThree online gatherings with gentle daily journalling prompts between sessions. \n\nAn Invitation\nMost of us know the voice of the Inner Critic. \nIt tells us to work harder\, get it right\, stay in control\, fit in\, or never make mistakes. \nOver time these voices become so familiar that we mistake them for the truth. We don’t just hear them—we become them. \nOne of the biggest shifts in this work is learning to see these voices rather than automatically believing them. To take what Zen practice calls the backward step—to become aware of the one who is listening. \nAs we begin to notice the critic\, something changes. \nA little space opens up. \nEnough space to become curious. \nEnough space to discover that these voices are not who we are. \nInspired by Freedom from Your Inner Critic by Jay Earley and Bonnie Weiss\, this journey explores what I like to call the Council of Critics—an inner committee of protective parts\, each convinced its strategy is the best way to keep us safe. \nRather than trying to silence these voices or get rid of them\, we’ll learn to become curious about them. \nBecause every critic has a job. \nEvery critic is trying to protect you. \nAnd every critic has a story. \n \n\nMeet Your Council\nTogether we’ll get to know seven familiar critics: \n\nThe Perfectionist\nThe Driver (Taskmaster)\nThe Inner Controller\nThe Underminer\nThe Destroyer\nThe Guilt Tripper\nThe Chameleon\n\nAs the weeks unfold you’ll begin recognising which critics are most active in your own life\, what they are trying to protect\, and how they came to take on these roles. \n\nWhy Journalling?\nWriting creates space. \nInstead of becoming caught inside these voices\, we begin relating to them differently. \nBetween our online gatherings you’ll receive a simple daily journalling prompt that takes around 5–10 minutes. \nNot homework. \nAn experiment. \nAn opportunity to notice which critic is present\, what it fears\, and what happens when we respond with curiosity instead of judgement. \nTogether we’ll explore questions like: \n\nWhich critic has been running the meeting this week?\nWhat is it trying to protect?\nWhen did it first begin its job?\nWhat happens when I simply notice rather than react?\nWhat changes when I stop believing everything my inner critic tells me?\n\nThere are no right answers. \nOnly an invitation to become more aware of your inner world. \n\nBefore We Begin\nBefore our first gathering you’ll complete a short Inner Critic Profile (around 5–10 minutes). \nThe profile helps identify which members of your Council of Critics are most active and provides a starting point for your journey. \n\nWhat to Expect\nThe journey includes: \n🌿 Three live online gatherings (75 minutes each) \n🌿 Gentle daily journalling prompts \n🌿 A private WhatsApp group for the duration of the journey \n🌿 Guided reflections inspired by Internal Family Systems (IFS) \n🌿 A simple\, compassionate approach to understanding your inner world \nNo previous journalling experience is needed. \nOnly a willingness to become curious. \n\nBy the End of the Journey\nYou’ll leave with: \n🌿 A clearer map of your own Council of Critics \n🌿 Greater awareness of the protective patterns beneath self-criticism \n🌿 A simple journalling practice you can continue using \n🌿 Practical ways of recognising when you’ve become blended with a critic \n🌿 A more compassionate relationship with yourself \n\nJourney Schedule\n🌿 Opening Circle\nTuesday 11 August 2026 \nMeeting the Council of Critics \n\n🌿 Middle Circle\nTuesday 18 August 2026 \nListening to What the Critics Protect \n\n🌿 Closing Circle\nTuesday 25 August 2026 \nLiving with Greater Awareness and Choice \n\nSession Time\nSouth Africa (SAST)6:00–7:15 PM \nCentral Europe (CEST)6:00–7:15 PM \nUS Pacific (PDT)9:00–10:15 AM \n\nContribution\nInternational\nSuggested contribution US$50–100 \nSouth Africa\nSuggested contribution R700–R1\,000 \nIf the suggested contribution isn’t possible\, please get in touch and we’ll make a plan. \n\nIs This Group for You?\nThis group is for anyone who recognises the harsh inner voice that criticises\, pushes\, compares\, controls\, or never quite lets them rest. \nYou don’t need to be “good” at journalling. \nYou don’t need to fix yourself. \nYou simply need a willingness to become curious about the voices inside and what they have been trying to protect. \n\nReady to Meet Your Council of Critics?\nIf this journey speaks to you\, I’d love to have you join us. \nComplete the registration form below to reserve your place. You’ll find contribution options\, payment details\, and everything you need to get started there. \nBefore our first gathering\, I’ll send you your Inner Critic Profile along with an invitation to our temporary WhatsApp group\, which we’ll use to share daily journalling prompts and stay connected for the duration of the journey. \n→ Register Here

SUMMARY:Exploring the Inner Critic
DESCRIPTION:Parts on Paper\nA Three- Part Online Journalling Group10–24 September 2026 \nThree online gatherings with guided journalling between sessions. \n\nAn Invitation\nMost of us know the voice of the Inner Critic. \nIt tells us to work harder\, get it right\, stay in control\, fit in\, or never make mistakes. \nOver time these voices can become so familiar that we mistake them for the truth. We don’t just hear them — we become them. \nThis three-week journey is an invitation to slow that process down. \nThrough guided journalling\, conversation and curiosity\, we’ll begin to notice the different voices that make up our own Inner Critic and explore what lies underneath them. \nRather than trying to silence these voices or get rid of them\, we’ll become curious about them. \nBecause every critic has a job. \nEvery critic is trying to protect you. \nAnd every critic has a story. \nInspired by Freedom from Your Inner Critic by Jay Earley and Bonnie Weiss\, we’ll explore what I like to call the Council of Critics — an inner committee of protective parts\, each convinced its particular strategy is the best way to keep us safe. \n\nMeet Your Council\nTogether we’ll get to know seven familiar critics: \n\nThe Perfectionist\nThe Driver (Taskmaster)\nThe Inner Controller\nThe Underminer\nThe Destroyer\nThe Guilt Tripper\nThe Chameleon\n\nAs the weeks unfold\, you’ll begin recognising which critics are most active in your own life\, what they are trying to protect\, and how they came to take on these roles. \n\nWhy Journalling?\nWriting creates space. \nInstead of becoming caught inside the voice of the critic\, we can begin to notice it. \nWe can listen to what it says without immediately believing it. \nBetween our online gatherings you’ll receive guided journalling prompts to help you explore your own Council of Critics. \nThis isn’t homework. \nIt’s an experiment. \nAn opportunity to notice which critic is present\, what it is trying to protect\, and what happens when we respond with curiosity rather than judgement. \n\nWhat to Expect\nThe journey includes: \n🌿 Three live online gatherings — 75 minutes each \n🌿 Guided journalling between sessions \n🌿 A private WhatsApp group for the duration of the journey \n🌿 Reflections inspired by Internal Family Systems (IFS) \n🌿 A simple\, compassionate approach to understanding your inner world \nNo previous journalling experience is needed. \nOnly a willingness to become curious. \n\nGroup Schedule\n🌿 Opening Circle\nThursday 10 September 2026 \nMeeting the Council of Critics \n🌿 Middle Circle\nThursday 17 September 2026 \nListening to What the Critics Protect \n🌿 Closing Circle\nThursday 24 September 2026 \nLiving with Greater Awareness and Choice \n\nSession Time\nSouth Africa (SAST)6:00–7:15 PM \nCentral Europe (CEST)6:00–7:15 PM \nUS Pacific (PDT)9:00–10:15 AM \n\nContribution\nInternational\nSuggested contribution US$50–100 \nSouth Africa\nSuggested contribution R700–R1\,000 \nIf the suggested contribution isn’t possible\, please get in touch and we’ll make a plan. \nThis is what a previous participant said about her experience: \n\n“What a nourishing experience to be with you all. Thanks Ryan and Leeane for such a warm and encouraging space. \nThe suggestion of our critics as being sacred was especially heart-opening. It’s been very hard for me to relate to these parts and welcome them until now — even acknowledging them felt hard. SUMMARY:Intensive Writing - Where the Story Lives
DESCRIPTION:Parts on Paper\nExpressive Writing Intensive \nA Three-Part Guided Journalling Journey14–28 October 2026 \nFour 20-minute writing sessions\, with shorter reflections and supportive group connection throughout the two weeks. \nAn Invitation\nThis October\, we’re taking the writing practice a little deeper. \nThis is an intensive for those who have already taken part in the Exploring the Inner Critic group. \nOver two weeks\, we’ll each choose one or two difficult experiences\, periods or chapters of our lives that we would like to spend some time with. \nWe’ll use expressive writing to explore what happened\, what we felt\, what we made it mean\, and the connections that may have been difficult to see at the time. \nThe intention isn’t to write a perfect story. \nIt’s to give an experience some space. \nTo slow it down. \nTo listen to what is still there. \nAnd to see what happens when we begin putting it into words. \n\nWhy Expressive Writing?\nThere is something surprisingly powerful about writing about our own experience. \nResearch beginning with the work of psychologist James Pennebaker has explored what happens when people spend short periods of time writing about difficult or emotionally significant experiences. \nAcross decades of research\, researchers have explored expressive writing in relation to psychological wellbeing\, stressful life events\, physical health and even aspects of immune functioning. \nThe findings are mixed\, and there is no simple formula for what makes writing helpful. \nWhat interests me is the possibility that putting experience into words can help us slow something down enough to see it differently. \nWe may begin with what happened. \nThen we notice what we felt. \nThen perhaps we notice something we hadn’t connected before. \nThe writing becomes a way of listening. \n\nThe Practice\nThe structure is deliberately simple. \nAcross the two weeks there will be four 20-minute writing sessions. \nBetween these sessions there will be shorter reflective invitations. These don’t require a set amount of time. They are simply ways of staying connected to what is emerging. \nYou might be invited to notice something in your body\, revisit a moment from the writing\, pay attention to a particular emotion\, or become curious about one of the parts that appears along the way. \nThere will also be a supportive group structure throughout the two weeks. \nA place to share what we are noticing. \nA place to listen. \nA place to be witnessed without needing to fix or solve each other’s experiences. \n\nWhat Are We Writing About?\nYou’ll choose one or two difficult experiences or chapters of your life that you feel ready to spend some time with. \nThis might be: \n\nA relationship\nA period of change or loss\nAn experience of shame or embarrassment\nA time when you felt small\, rejected or alone\nSomething you regret\nA difficult family experience\nA chapter of your life you still find yourself thinking about\nAn experience that you have never quite made sense of\n\nYou don’t need to choose the biggest or most traumatic experience of your life. \nIn fact\, part of the practice is learning to notice what you are ready to approach. \nAnd this is where the work we did with the Inner Critic becomes relevant. \nAs we begin writing\, we may discover that some parts of us are very happy to go there. \nOthers may not be. \nWe will make room for those parts too. \n\nWhat to Expect\nThe journey includes: \n🌿 Four guided 20-minute expressive-writing sessions \n🌿 Short reflective invitations between writing sessions \n🌿 Supportive online group connection \n🌿 A private WhatsApp group for the duration of the journey \n🌿 Guidance inspired by expressive-writing research and Internal Family Systems \n🌿 A simple structure for exploring difficult experiences through writing \nThe actual writing commitment is just 20 minutes at a time. \nThe intention is to create enough structure to go somewhere\, without making the practice another thing to achieve. \n\nJourney Schedule\n🌿 Opening\nWednesday 14 October 2026 \nChoosing our experience and preparing for the writing practice \n🌿 Writing\nFour 20-minute writing sessions across the two weeks \nWith shorter reflective invitations between sessions. \n🌿 Closing\nWednesday 28 October 2026 \nMaking space for what has emerged \n\nA Note About Readiness\nExpressive writing can bring us into contact with experiences and emotions that we may have kept at a distance. \nWe don’t need to force ourselves into material we aren’t ready to approach. \nThe intention is not to push through our protectors. \nIt is to become curious about them. \nSometimes the most useful thing we can discover is that a part of us isn’t ready to go somewhere yet. \nThat is information too. \n\nWho Is This For?\nThis intensive is specifically for people who have already taken part in the Exploring the Inner Critic group. \nThe September group gives us a foundation for recognising our protective parts and becoming curious about the voices inside. \nOctober builds on that foundation by turning the writing towards our own life experiences. \nYou don’t need to have a particular outcome in mind. \nOnly a willingness to explore. \n\nContribution\nI’d keep the contribution the same as September\, unless you want October positioned as a slightly higher-value intensive. \nInternationalSuggested contribution US$50–100 \nSouth AfricaSuggested contribution R700–R1\,000 \nIf the suggested contribution isn’t possible\, please get in touch and we’ll make a plan. \nReady to Go a Little Deeper?\nIf you’ve taken part in the Inner Critic group and feel ready to explore your own experience through expressive writing\, I’d love to have you join us. \nComplete the registration form below to reserve your place. You’ll find contribution options\, payment details\, and everything you need to get started there. \nBefore we begin\, I’ll send you everything you need to prepare for the writing practice\, along with an invitation to our temporary WhatsApp group. \n→ Register Here
