Family Stories: The Stories We Carry

An online journalling journey exploring the stories we inherit, the stories we live, and the stories we carry.
14–28 October 2026
Three consecutive Wednesdays
Online | 75 minutes
Our families are full of stories.
Some are told over and over. Some are barely spoken about. Some are remembered differently by different people. And some seem to live in us even when we don’t know where they came from.
In this series, we’ll use writing, parts work, family constellations and conversation to explore the stories that have shaped us.
We’ll look at the stories we inherited, the stories we have made our own, and the ways we may still be carrying parts of them — sometimes in unresolved or disorganised ways.
What happens when we bring these stories into the light?
Can writing give us enough distance to see them differently?
And might there be stories we want to intentionally carry forward as sources of strength, stories that simply need to be witnessed, and others that we might find new ways of telling?
As we go, we’ll explore:
The Stories We Inherit
Family stories, characters, places, departures, arrivals, belonging and the things we were told about where we came from.
The Stories We Carry
How old stories might live in our present lives, our relationships and our parts, sometimes without us fully knowing why.
Finding New Meaning
What becomes possible when we bring the story into the light? What might we keep, what might we release, and what new meaning might emerge?
This isn’t about finding the true version of your family story.
Rather, it’s an invitation to get curious about the stories that have shaped you — and to discover what happens when you put them on paper.
